Byron Bay, AU
2018 IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH
The Badlands all but disappeared from the face of the planet after the end of their last 2017/ 18 release tour for their EP ‘Perfect Loser’.
With lead singer Paul Adams out of action for over 6 months with chronic whooping cough at the beginning of 2018, the band took to the shadows of rest and recovery.
A following neck and shoulder injury for drummer Massimo Tolli and a broken hand for bassist Alexx McConnell meant that the rising trajectory of the bands musical journey came to an abrupt but temporary halt.
Now into 2019 and the band are back with more weight and vitality behind their music than ever before. In February 2019 they take to the studio with producer Nick Didia (of Rage Against The Machine / Pearl Jam / Bruce Springsteen production)
Their latest single in the making ‘Ultra Violent’ is nothing short of massive. With a drum introduction that punches through the solar plexus like a cannonball at short range, there’s no way you won’t know about it.
The band are in the process of building their next tour around the single release which will start in April 2019 with some exciting sponsorships forming.
A Byron Story
The Badlands met in Byron back in 2014.
If you aren’t already familiar with the bands sound, in a nutshell it’s big, it’s loud, it’s addictive, thought provoking, guttural rock and roll.
Lead singer Paul Adams’ vocals have a low, growling texture to them that warms the palate for the audio assault that’s delivered by drummer Massimo Tolli’s electric antics on the kit. This man’s rock drumming is something to witness.
In fact you can’t look away. The musical glue that comes from bassist Alexx Mcconnell keeps you chained to the stage, and with the grinding riffs that accompany this grunge rock medley from guitarist Tommy Flint, you’d be hard pushed to leave the show without feeling like you’d been dealt a serious blow to your musical mind.
